Asian Leaders Praise US-Iran Ceasefire, Hope for Wider Mideast Peace
Anwar Ibrahim described the development as “positive,” referencing a 10-point proposal from Iran that Washington has reportedly received favorably. On the social media platform X, he wrote, "This proposal augurs well for the restoration of peace and stability, not only to the region but also the rest of the world."
Anwar stressed that a durable settlement should not be limited to Iran alone but should also address stability in Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen, while also calling for a resolution to the humanitarian situation in Gaza. He praised Shehbaz Sharif for “tireless and courageous diplomacy,” noting Pakistan’s role in facilitating engagement between all parties.
Meanwhile, Minoru Kihara characterized the ceasefire as a “positive move” and emphasized that meaningful de-escalation remains essential. Officials in Tokyo expressed hope that the temporary truce could evolve into a permanent and comprehensive agreement, according to reports.
