China, Spain Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

(MENAFN) Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, met with King Felipe VI of Spain in Beijing on Wednesday.

Zhao emphasized that, under the leadership and guidance of President Xi Jinping and King Felipe VI, the relationship between China and Spain has experienced stable and positive development in recent years.

He underscored that China is eager to collaborate with Spain to implement the "important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries," reinforce the foundation of political trust, advance practical cooperation, boost cultural and people-to-people exchanges, maintain high-level progress in bilateral relations, bring more advantages to their citizens, and contribute stability and positive momentum to the global stage.

The National People's Congress of China expressed its readiness to partner with Spain's Parliament to enhance friendly exchanges between legislative institutions.

Zhao highlighted the intention to carry out more exchanges on legislative practices and supervisory experiences, providing a solid legal framework for practical bilateral cooperation.

King Felipe VI remarked that the friendship between the peoples of Spain and China boasts a long and deep-rooted history, with bilateral relations continuing to progress positively.

He acknowledged China's development strategies as long-term, forward-thinking, and consistent, and expressed Spain’s willingness to expand legislative exchanges with China and further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership.
