Russia alleges seizing villages in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia

(MENAFN) Russia’s Defense Ministry on Monday claimed its forces had taken control of three villages in Ukraine’s east and south amid continued fighting along the front lines.

In a statement, the ministry said units of the “East” military group had advanced further into Ukrainian defensive positions, capturing the villages of Sladkoe and Novoye in the Zaporizhzhia region. It added that troops from the 1435th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 2nd Army seized Gnatovka near Krasnoarmeysk in the Donetsk region.

Kyiv has not commented on the claims, which could not be independently verified due to ongoing hostilities.
