Russia, Ukraine Pause Peace Talks
During a routine media briefing on Wednesday, Peskov mentioned that the timing of the next round of negotiations with Kiev would be determined once all prior commitments are honored.
He pointed to efforts such as prisoner swaps and the return of fallen service members as key obligations still in progress.
Last month, Russia and Ukraine engaged in direct discussions in Türkiye, reviving a diplomatic track that Kiev had suspended in 2022 when it opted instead to pursue military gains with backing from Western allies.
At their most recent gathering on June 2, both parties agreed to conduct exchanges involving captives and the bodies of deceased soldiers on humanitarian grounds.
Additionally, Ukraine and Russia exchanged preliminary documents outlining their envisioned peace strategies.
The handover of fallen troops was finalized on the Monday of the previous week.
Russia delivered 6,060 sets of remains to Ukraine and received 78 in return.
The Russian armed forces have indicated they are prepared to transfer over 3,000 more bodies.
