Erdogan, Trump Discuss Global Issues
(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the NATO Summit in The Hague.
The leaders engaged in discussions covering a range of regional and global matters, as well as bilateral relations between their countries.
In a statement released by Türkiye's Communications Directorate, President Erdogan expressed his appreciation for the Israel-Iran ceasefire "achieved through US President Trump's efforts."
He called for enduring peace, a resolution to the ongoing Gaza crisis, and open dialogue regarding Ukraine.
During their conversation, President Erdogan emphasized the significant opportunities for collaboration between Turkey and the US, particularly in the areas of energy, investment, and defense.
He highlighted that strengthening these ties could help achieve the ambitious goal of a USD100 billion trade target.
Both leaders also reaffirmed the importance of reinforcing NATO’s deterrence capabilities, as Turkey and the US play pivotal roles as key allies within the Alliance.
