Qatar Slams Iran’s Strike on U.S. Base as "Blatant Violation"
The Iranian assault came in retaliation for recent American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend. In a statement shared on X, a representative from Qatar’s Foreign Ministry emphasized the nation's firm stance, declaring that it "reserves the right to respond in line with international law."
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari did not mince words, stating: “strong condemnation of the attack on Al Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,” and labeling the move as “a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, its airspace, international law, and the United Nations Charter.”
Al-Ansari emphasized that “Qatar reserves the right to respond proportionately and directly to this blatant aggression, in accordance with international law.”
He also revealed that Qatari missile defense systems had intercepted the incoming Iranian missiles, and that prior evacuation measures had been enacted due to rising regional tensions.
These proactive safety steps ensured the protection of all personnel, including Qatari soldiers, allied forces, and others based at the airfield.
He further confirmed that the incident resulted in no injuries or fatalities.
