Trump, Pakistani Army Chief Discuss Iran, Israel Conflict
According to a statement released on Thursday by the Pakistan Army's media wing, International Services Public Relations, both figures underlined the urgency of finding a peaceful resolution to the hostilities.
"A detailed exchange of views also took place on the prevailing tensions between Iran and Israel, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of resolution of the conflict," the statement noted.
However, no additional information regarding the specifics of the conversation was shared publicly.
Gen. Munir is currently undertaking a five-day official trip to the United States.
As part of his itinerary, he met with President Trump on Wednesday during a luncheon in the Cabinet Room, followed by a visit to the Oval Office.
Also in attendance were US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Washington’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.
On the Pakistani side, Munir was joined by Lt. Gen. Asim Malik, who serves as the national security advisor and leads the country’s top intelligence body, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
During the meeting, Munir expressed the "deep" gratitude of Pakistan’s leadership and its citizens for Trump’s "constructive and result-oriented role" in brokering a ceasefire between Pakistan and India amid a recent military confrontation.
In response, President Trump commended Pakistan’s persistent contributions to maintaining regional harmony and highlighted the "robust" partnership between the two nations in combating terrorism.
