Musk’s dad applauds Putin as ‘impressive and resilient man’
The 79-year-old South African businessman declined to say whether he intended to meet the Russian leader, but reiterated praise he previously shared in an April interview with the BBC, in which he said his family respected Putin and found his speeches “logical.”
Marking his first-ever trip to Russia, Musk said he accepted the forum’s invitation without hesitation, despite being warned against visiting. He described Russia as a “beautiful civilization” and compared Moscow to Ancient Rome, calling it “possibly the best capital in the world,” which drew applause from the audience.
Musk also criticized how Western media portrays Russia, calling the depiction “complete nonsense.” He argued that contrary to Western stereotypes, Russia is not a hostile or dangerous country, but rather one of the most remarkable nations he has encountered.
“I think this may be one of the best countries I’ve ever seen,” he concluded.
